Survey Says: Most Summer Bodies Stay Under Wraps in Summer

It’s late spring, and you’re standing in line at the supermarket, staring at the magazines.

The covers are graced with people who are tanned, toned and fit and the headlines scream, “get your bikini body now!” or “there’s still time to shape up for summer!”

Many of us do toss around the idea of getting rid of a little excess flab that’s been hiding under bulky sweaters and long coats all winter. But how many people actually attempt to get in shape for summer? And, when they slip into their swimsuits, how do they feel “letting it all hang out”?

In order to find out, Herbalife sponsored a nationwide survey* – and the results were really surprising.

The survey asked 1000 men and women whether they tried to diet and exercise their way to a better body for the summer, and how they felt about being seen in swimwear. And while a large majority (69% of the women and 76% of the men) said that they made absolutely no effort to get in shape for the summer. And while we didn’t gather height and weight data in the survey, it’s probably safe to say that most of those surveyed are carrying around more weight than they’d like.

When asked how they felt about their bodies being out in plain view, only 3.5% thought, “I’ve got it, so I flaunt it”.

Despite summer’s searing heat wave, more than 50% said they keep their bodies “under wraps”, 36% said they’re “embarrassed to be seen in a bathing suit”, and another 16% avoid swimming situations altogether – because they simply don’t want to be seen.Interestingly, the majority  (61 percent) admitted that while their bodies aren’t perfect, they were comfortable with what they’ve got.

On the surface, that body acceptance would appear to be a good thing. But when nationwide statistics are also showing that, as a nation, we’re just getting heavier and heavier, it could also suggest that our view of what a normal and healthy body looks like is shifting – in the wrong direction. This may may mean that many are simply giving up the fight to get fit – they’re working out less and loving it more.

With so many people keeping themselves covered up and avoiding the water altogether, a day of activity at the beach or pool is a missed opportunity for those who could really use it. Swimming is a great cardio workout, and the natural resistance of the water helps to build muscle. A walk or jog in the sand at the beach really works the legs.

So now imagine that it’s next spring, and you’re standing at the checkout line, looking at the magazine covers. Okay – maybe you can’t get a bikini body in time for summer – but you sure aren’t going to get one if you spend the summer on the couch. Instead of avoiding the beach and the pool (or the mirror) next year, get into those swimming togs, get outside and get moving.

While it’s great to be comfortable with the body you’ve got, if you take care if it with proper diet and exercise, it’ll also be the best body it can be.

The Simple Science of Wellness

The Simple Science of WellnessJames Stewart

Wellness is about waking up every morning and feeling you have enough time, energy & freedom to live the life you want to. It’s about feeling and looking better.

Wellness is an active choice.

We are here to inspire you to make positive changes to your eating habits and general wellbeing for a healthy active lifestyle.

Should you not consciously be thinking about staying hydrated, about exercising regularly, about not overeating or about eating 3 regular meals a day, your health will be in decline.

Our bodies are made up of trillions of cells which regenerate daily and need optimal, balanced nutrition to be healthy & to function well.

Our daily diet should include fresh fruit & vegetables, good sources of fibre and protein and staying well hydrated with a minimum 8 glasses of water.

Unfortunately busy, modern lifestyles don’t support the healthy choices that can help prevent the development of problems in later years.

Instead, the increase of technology and packaged foods, our dependence on motor transportation rather than walking, our sedentary lifestyles and our busy schedules that leave us little time to prepare healthy meals or exercise are seen to have led to an increase in weight gain across populations.

FACTORS THAT IMPACT HEALTH

  • Fast food diets which are high in fats and low in nutrients.
  • Overly processed convenience foods
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Pollution
  • Stress
  • Certain medications
  • Lack of dietary fiber from fruits, vegetables and whole grains
  • Not enough healthy protein in our diet to support healthy muscle and bone
  • Lack of proper rest

STEPS FOR ACHIEVING OPTIMUM WELLNESS

  • Define your wellness goals
  • Have an evaluation of your personal wellness
  • Identify key areas you need to impact to reach your wellness goals
  • Get recommendations from your Wellness Coach
  • Make a plan of action you can commit to

As a valued Work From Home News reader, we invite you to take a free Wellness Evaluation. This will also qualify you for a free Guide to Enhanced Health & Wellness, which we hope you’ll find useful.

Model Agency and work from home mom

Nicole Brandt – Model Agency and work from home mom

Nicole Brandt is a successful businesswoman and mom. Originally from Berlin, Germany she found her way to Miami in the United States where she was head-hunted by Boss Models as an assistant and was asked to open and run the Cape Town office – a position she has successfully occupied for 12 years.

We spoke about firefly mating habits in Vietnam and the Rocky Mountains, love, the universe, the environment and the impact of  Napster and iTunes on the music industry.

Nicole is a rare sort– she reflects the ‘being’ in human being. Radiating an enthusiasm for the moment she finds herself in.

Lauren Stewart and I were sitting on a very old couch one day watching our kids sliding around in foam. We got chatting about various things and realized we shared a common interest in nutrition and healthy eating. She told me she worked with Herbalife nutrition products, which I had never heard of before and when I mentioned that I worked for a model agency she said that she might have a solution for some of my models, many of whom were always struggling to manage their weight.

I was intrigued, especially as I had just had a meeting with one of my models who had arrived at the office in tears. She told me she was eating three tomatoes a day and was still gaining weight and her skin was really not looking good.

I was shocked.

Nicole Brandt - Work from Home Mom and Model Agency Owner

I asked my work colleagues what we were doing to these young kids: destroying their bodies and their health by allowing them to starve themselves so that they could be thin enough to work.

Since then, I had been looking for a solution, so I was immediately interested in Lauren and Jean’s offer to come to our office and do a presentation on the importance of good nutrition in a low calorie format.

My colleagues and I decided that before we recommended the Herbalife products to the models we would need to try it ourselves to see whether it would work.

My office manager had been into some fairly unhealthy habits before and was keen to change her approach to nutrition. She had incredible weight loss results – literally half the person. She looks more beautiful and incredible than she ever has. She has also stopped some serious medication which she was using for her skin.

I didn’t need to lose weight and didn’t have any health issues, because I have always been careful about what I eat. I felt an incredible increase in my energy levels. Normally around 5 or 6pm I would start getting really tired, but that was quickly a thing of the past and I just feel I somehow have more time during the day now. I have a very busy lifestyle so I just love the convenience of having a shake in the morning and sometimes for lunch if I’m busy knowing that I’m putting the correct balance of nutrients into my body. I don’t have to think about planning those meals, which supplements to take together and in which quantity because if you don’t really understand how minerals and nutrients work together and which to take separately they can simply have no effect. With Herbalife it’s all balanced and worked out for me by 60 doctors and scientists around the world – and believe me I’ve researched this in detail and even met some of them. The science and research that goes into Herbalife products is quite incredible and it’s available for anyone to see.

I have studied and been interested in nutrition since I was in college in Miami where it was one of my subjects. Even before then as a child in Germany I used to have my big A – Z book of herbs and go out into the forest looking for herbs to brew various potions for this and that.

Now lot of the models have been using the Herbalife nutrition shake for some time now and it’s amazing – I just picked up my invoice book from the office after being overseas for a while and I noticed that I had earned R3000 without even knowing about it.

The more I found out about Herbalife and the company the more I was attracted to it. I just love going to the meetings where I feel like I’m around like minded people.  There’s an opportunity to really help people with Herbalife – to bring transformation and healing to people through nutrition and personal development. I see how people are achieving and regaining good health while having a simple opportunity to earn money every time I go to a meeting or event. There is no other single company that I have come across which achieves this combination.

Getting rich isn’t what gets me out of bed in the morning, but there is a richness of human-ness which Herbalife stands for that I am passionate about and I can see myself being involved bringing this goodness to people’s lives through Herbalife and its products for the rest of my life. I’m more comfortable with the idea of getting rich as a result of providing solutions for lots of people. That is something worth doing.

Nursing Sister and part time Herbalife Distributor

Teboho Lekhanya – Nursing Sister and part time Herbalife Distributor.

I am a qualified nursing sister, midwife and intensive care nurse.

I grew up in Lesotho and moved down to Cape Town in 1990 for my job and because I love the city.

I decided to devote my life to nursing as it is my passion to help people.

I found out about the Herbalife products through a colleague. I saw her losing weight, studying, working hard but always having lots of energy and coping with the stress.

I was unhappy with my weight so when I asked her what she was doing, she told me about the Herbalife products she was using. I sat down with Professor Kachienga who was also using the products. I wanted to make sure they were safe.

I took his advice and I decided to start using them myself.

Within the first three days I felt fantastic. The first thing I noticed was the increase in my energy levels. I wasn’t falling asleep in front of the TV anymore, I could concentrate for an entire 12-hour shift and still come home and spend time with my children (21 & 14 years). I also started sleeping much better. When I woke up in the morning I felt like I was looking forward to the day, which was a huge change.

I was fed up with my job, but I felt like I could at least cope – and losing a total of 24kg was a fantastic bonus!

At this stage, there was no talk about making money. We were all just very excited about the health and weight loss results we were getting from the balanced nutrition.

People started asking me ‘what I was doing’ so I told them and they wanted to try Herbalife themselves. I told Professor Kachienga and he told me I could make some extra money. I asked him how and he advised me to get registered as an Independent Herbalife Distributor. Before I knew it I was in business with a few customers who were also getting fabulous results and telling their friends.

I went to a training which was provided by the company and found out more about this amazing company called Herbalife which I had never heard of before.

It was a perfect solution for me.

I didn’t want to see myself retiring as a grumpy old nursing sister with nothing to fall back on. I had a dream of having my own Wellness Centre but I didn’t know how I was going to achieve it.

I was always seeing patients returning to the hospital people for the same reasons, never really becoming healthy.

I had also been working with HIV positive people which opened my eyes to the important role played by nutrition in repairing the body, so I started reading up on it. The perfectly balanced nutrition offered by Herbalife really got me excited and also focused me on where I wanted to take my business idea and dream. I decided I wanted to take nutrition to the people and educate them about the importance of looking after their diet properly.

I started a nutrition club where I invited people to come and learn about nutrition and I sell Herbalife products to the people who want it to make a very useful part-time income.

Work from home mom

Lauren Stewart: Work from home mom balances family with financial success and security.

I always knew 2 things: I wanted to have children and I wanted to have success on my terms.

In the last 4 years I have built an income, while working from home around my beautiful sons, Jamie (7) and Jack (3). I enjoy the luxury of spending a lot of quality time with them. In the seven years since they were born I have not missed a single moment. It’s a double-blessing that we are able to send them to the best schools in the area.

When I left school, I studied cordon bleu catering. I was passionate about it but realised from the working hours involved that there was no opportunity for lifestyle with that career.

I’ve only ever had one job – as an executive assistant to a dynamic woman CEO. During this time I had first-hand experience of the stress that accompanied her pay-check.
I wondered then how different her situation would be if she had kids? Would she have to give up her career or would she have to leave her children in day care?

I hated the thought of choosing between a career and my kids.

Since then this work from home business is all I have known professionally.

I was able to start in my part-time while working for Chris & Jean Thompson who had introduced me to the Herbalife products and business opportunity. I had experienced amazing results on the products with a spastic colon which simply disappeared.

My plan was to build my income as I learned from successful mentors who are passionate about passing on the skills in this business opportunity.

I wasn’t sure that I could be my own boss, but after following the simple guidance of my mentors, I was able to start my own business and add to the family income to help secure our financial future.

Since then I have been using the Herbalife nutrition and specialized products for 14 years through two easy pregnancies and regained my ‘pre-pregnancy’ shape and weight within six weeks of giving birth.

The energy I get from great balanced nutrition is also very helpful with 2 boisterous boys in the house!

I have done two very simple things every day:

  • I look for people who need help with their health, energy or weight. This ‘part’ of my day earns me around R7 500 per month.
  • I look for people who want to copy me. I train them how to do what I do and get paid a percentage of their success by Herbalife. This residual or royalty income amounts to another R12 000 per month and is growing steadily.

It is SO simple and I get such an amazing sense of satisfaction being able to help people while making an incredible income.

There are so many success stories of people with no ‘business experience’ who now earn incomes in excess of R200 000 per month that I know I am on track to securing my own financial independence.

My husband James is a successful songwriter and musician. This business allows me the flexibility to go on tour or travel overseas to enjoy the excitement of that with him – even more – I get an opportunity to build my business in around the world in 73 countries!

We live on an apricot and pear farm in Franschhoek in the wine district just outside Cape Town and in the last few years have traveled to Stockholm (Sweden), the Bahamas (Caribbean), Greece, Prague (Czechoslovakia), Barcelona (Spain), New York, London and Paris.

We leave for an all expenses paid holiday in Zanzibar shortly. Incredible!

I love what I do, it fits me perfectly and I am excited about what the future holds for me and my family. I would love to show you how you could live your dreams too with this incredible international business opportunity.

Work from home entrepreneur

Chris Thompson: Fitness Club Operations Manager to work from home Health and Wellness entrepreneur with international income.

My day is flexible. I get up when I’m finished sleeping. I have time to work on myself as a person. I am free to go to the beach on a beautiful day and as long as I am disciplined enough to make up the time doing a few simple things I have been trained to do everyday, my business and income keeps growing.

I always saw myself as a successful person – a business owner.

It was my dream to have a fitness club of my own and develop that into a chain.

Opportunity knocked when I was 26. I was offered a position as a duty manager at a fitness club in Glasgow, Scotland. My boss was looking for someone who could
learn quickly.

After a month of shadowing people in various positions I was promoted and asked to implement some of my ideas. I was literally thrown in at the deep end as “operations manager” and had to learn on my feet for the first few months. The learning curve was steep, but I loved it.

I was earning £2500 in 2006 after deductions, which in South African terms was a good salary.

Naturally, the money came with a lot more responsibility. Often my day started at 5am and ended at 10pm sometimes working everyday of the week. I had to be there to make sure everything got done. None of this was a problem – I understood that success would cost me in time and energy.

What worried me about the business model was the high risk and relatively low margins. We needed to sell a lot of memberships just to keep the doors open. We increased our memberships by about 5000 in ten months and were still only just making ends meet. The previous manager had also been creative with the books making the business seem more profitable than it was.

Rent, wages and other running costs just kept increasing. We were struggling to compete against the larger chains who were offering more for their members and new clubs opening every year. We were being squeezed out of the market and had to drop prices to compete – this meant we had to sell more memberships to achieve our budgets.

I realized that this was just how ‘doing business was’ and I became disillusioned. Where would I get the kind of money required to start my own gym in such a competitive environment?

I had to start looking for something else.

I came back to South Africa and began looking at everything from franchises to start-ups. Nothing satisfied my criteria:

  • I wanted a business opportunity with low overheads but the potential for large profits.
  • I wanted to avoid the responsibility and stress of staff
  • It needed to be international as well so I could travel
  • Most importantly I wanted to do something I was passionate about – ideally in the health & fitness industry
  • I did not want to work in an office – a work from home environment would be ideal
  • I wanted to be able to expand my business as I grew in confidence

Eventually I had to make a decision.

I was ready to go back to my old job and start earning an income again when my parents suggested I take a look at an Independent Herbalife Distribution License as it satisfied all my criteria.

I was extremely resistant – There was NO WAY I could see myself “selling weight loss products.”

After listing their gym business on the Stock Exchange, my parents Chris & Jean Thompson had been very successful with their Herbalife distribution business for some years, but it was never something I could see myself doing.

I knew that people were making a lot of money in the business. I saw this first hand. I also knew that the products were fantastic as I had already been using them for 12 years to fuel my sport and work-outs, but it was just a matter of me not ‘seeing’ how I could do it. I just didn’t feel it was a good fit for me. I had no experience in marketing or sales, I am not the jump up and down with excitement type of person and always saw Herbalife Distributors as extroverts with lots of energy and excitement.

When I realized that I only needed be myself, that the marketing plan and products were established and that all I needed to bring was my unique personality, skill set and energy to a ‘happening’ business, I became hopeful that I could find a way to do the business that suited me.

I could totally do it my way!

I knew that, just like any business there would be certain things that I had to do to be successful – like being consistent in applying a few simple things – but if I committed to doing the work and being ‘teachable’ that success would come to me, just like the thousands of people who are already successful in 73 countries.

There are warehouses and staff in 73 countries (and growing) waiting to take my call and help me do my business. I saw the ability to be mobile and take my business almost anywhere in the world I chose to be.

Success is different for everyone. For some people it is cars and money, for others it’s an education for their kids, or a reliable pension or retirement plan. For me it was travel and freedom to be wherever I wanted to be. Every business I had seen would require many years of hard work to make it profitable and be “chained to my business”. This was like a dream come true!

I made a commitment to do whatever it took to be successful with Herbalife.

I decided to start my business in Malaysia. Within 6 months I had already built up my residual income (the money I make while I sleep) to over R10 000 per month by helping others to learn the simple skills I had learned to generate income so they could do the same to whatever degree they were prepared to work for. I still get paid for the work I did in Malaysia. Every month. In US dollars.

There is almost no capital risk or overhead in this business, so while I’m learning new skills my business is still very profitable. This is not the case when owning traditional businesses where mistakes and lack of experience can seriously cost you – or in many cases put you out of business.

So I’m earning more and more money as I learn new skills which are taught to me by successful mentors and am becoming a person who is ‘worth more’ to that marketplace.

Interestingly my income has not been affected at all by the recession.

I’m having the time of my life and the future is looking very bright indeed!

Work from home Navy Commander

Steve Artman: from Navy Commander to work-from-home millionaire

I grew up in humble circumstances in Cape Town. My father was a barman after the 2nd world war. As a family we never had any extra money, we didn’t have a car and couldn’t eat out or go on family holidays. I lost my Mom when I was 10 and always remember my Dad saying that if he had his life over again he would have joined the permanent force after the war and enjoyed a steady salary with benefits.

As I grew up and left school as a bit of a rebel, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life, but I remembered the words of my Dad so I joined the Navy as a permanent force member with a salary and all those so called benefits like a housing subsidy, pension and medical aid.

In time and with application I was promoted all the way up to the rank of Commander of a state of the art strike-craft and it’s crew, which is a quite a responsibility.

I didn’t really think much about a successful life. I had a job and I was happy.

I got married and had my first daughter. I realized soon that the Navy was never going to pay me enough money to be able to take care of my growing family’s long-term needs. There was no prospect for me of any further promotion and an increase in salary, so I went in search of something else. This caused a lot of stress because I didn’t really know what else I could do until a Navy colleague, Gary Kitching gave me a call and dragged me kicking and screaming to a Herbalife meeting on a freezing and rainy Cape Town winter’s night. This is where I met Chris & Jean Thompson. I was a little sceptical about the business, but I trusted Gary and was very impressed by both Chris & Jean who were not only very successful, but so warm, welcoming and interested in being of value to me.

It left an impression which lasts to this day.

I started the business and began earning a nice little part time income. Then I went overseas to attend a big international Herbalife conference where I met the founder Mark Hughes, who spent a few moments with me and really showed me the vision of the company and thanked us for all our work and I just saw something in this guy. Besides the enormity of his vision, there was just something about him and the company which attracted me. It was more than a business – it was a mission – a genuine concern for people, their health and their wellbeing. I was incredibly moved by it and I realized on that trip that I could really do this and be successful at it.

I quit the navy and went full time into this incredible business opportunity.  I moved to Pretoria where I work from home around my two daughters.

I have spent a great deal of time on my own personal growth, becoming a more complete person and de-programming the ‘poverty or scarcity’ mentality and the self-imposed limitations I had grown up with. I learned a great deal from ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’ (Robert Kyosaki) in this regard, where his ‘poor Dad had all the diplomas and degrees, but was living from paycheck to paycheck and his ‘rich Dad’ had learned how money works.

I was highly qualified member of the Navy, but had nothing to show for it besides respect and satisfaction. I realized that I had to change my thinking and become ‘more’ in order to get more out of life. This is one of the priceless virtues which have been instilled in me since I started growing both my business and as a human being.

My average income is R85 000 per month, which has afforded me an amazing lifestyle and I’m only just getting started – the opportunity and income with this incredible work from home income opportunity is limited only by my imagination and hard work.

I am able to afford the best possible education and care for my daughter and have been able to afford to donate an 8-seater bus to her school so they are able to go on field trips.

I know I will achieve my dreams with this company and I look forward to building a legacy for my two beautiful daughters, Cayleigh and Megan.

Simple business opportunity – from broke to wealth and success

Anthony Larter: a simple business opportunity took me from from a broke dairy farmer to wealth and success.

I grew up on the family dairy farm outside Molteno in the Eastern Cape. As I was the only one of four brothers interested in farming, I took over farm when my father retired.

Despite the minus 14 degree 4am mornings, farming was a passion of mine and saw myself doing it for the rest of my life. It was a challenging and risky business with high costs and tight margins. You really can’t afford mistakes and it can take 5 years to recover from a bad season.

I built the business from 12 to 500 head and was one of the most successful and innovative stud farms in the Eastern Cape.

Life was good.

I was approached by a businessman who wanted to form a partnership to expand the business even further. Unfortunately he wasn’t as straight as I thought he was. I was concentrating on the day to day operation while he was ‘taking care of business’ and cooking the books. I wasn’t aware there was a problem until the banks started calling. I didn’t want to believe what I was being told and by the time I cottoned on to what was going on we were in a major debt spiral. We were also in a major drought so I was having to buy feed in for the cattle at R5000 per day.

Costs were spinning completely out of control.

I was about to lose the farm, which was the only family asset. I was supporting my family and my parents were counting on the farm’s success for their pension.

In 1996 we decided to sell everything except the land to pay off the R750 000 I owed and still came up short by R250 000.

I really didn’t know what to do. We were under so much pressure and stress, which wreaked havoc on my family.

On a trip down in Queenstown a friend handed me a flyer about a business opportunity. I said I’d check it out and phoned the number in East Londen to get more information. It all sounded pretty vague on the phone, but I was going down to East London the following week so I made an appointment.

This guy started telling me all about this work from home business opportunity and the Wellness Industry and I started to get angry. I mean, I’m a farmer. I live 13 kms outside Molteno on a dirt road, I operate a crank handle telephone and I’m R250 000 in debt!

What on earth do I know about the Wellness Industry?

How is this going to help me?

He could see I was upset and he looked me in the eye and simply said:

“If you were happy with your situation right now, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”

I agreed.

He said “If you are willing to be taught I can help you turn your situation around.”

These words convinced me that this was something I should at least give the benefit of the doubt.

I had a good three hours to think about it on the way home and by the time I’d got home I had convinced myself again that this wasn’t for me. I just could not see myself pushing weight-loss products to people.

I dumped my registration pack on the kitchen table and told my wife that I’d just added to the debt by getting suckered into this scheme.

Anthony and Mary Larter

My wife Mary thought that maybe she could lose some weight on the products that came with the pack. She was always tired and so she tried the products. Within 3 or 4 days she was having amazing energy and sleeping better. She convinced me to start using the products. I had all sorts of stress and age-related issues. My skin problems and my arthritis cleared up, my energy levels improved dramatically. I was losing body fat and sleeping so much better. In short I just felt like a million bucks!

My bank manager asked me what I was doing to look so good because he wanted to get rid of his ‘diesel tank’ (beer-belly, boep). Within 5 weeks of using the product he was taken off his cholesterol and high blood pressure medication he had been on for 25 years.

I still didn’t see the value of the business until my friend asked me how much money I had made. I had no idea. When Mary worked it out we realized to our shock that we’d made R15000 in 6 weeks. In 1996 that was a lot of money and I got very excited.

I called my sponsor and he started showing me more information about how the business worked. I simply had to follow some steps and do the work and my business would continue to grow – that it could be as big or small as I chose.

I was thinking that if it is this simple, I couldn’t fail.

We took a decision to sell the farm and get down to business.

Within 5 months I was earning around R30 000 per month and was able to pay off my debt quickly.

A few years later and I now earn around R50 000 per month and enjoy the most incredible lifestyle working from home around my family. I have financial security and a built in retirement plan with no risk or overheads.

I still get up at 4am and do some reading and go to gym to start my day.

It is such an amazing feeling to know that my future is taken care and that if I choose to retire in a few years I’ll have a secure pension through my residual earnings wich will be more than enough money to enjoy myself.

If a 54 year old ex-farmer can become healthy and wealthy, anyone can!

The 10 Secrets to a more powerful, successful and happier You

I was given a thin little book by my mentor a few days ago called ‘The Greatest Salesman in the World” by Og Mandino.

I was immediately a little put off by the title as I have no interest in becoming a salesman. Sensing this, my mentor suggested I read it anyway, saying the book neatly summed up the principles which he had followed.

I got up early one morning and read the book from cover to cover. The following is my summary, which I’d like to share you – although I recommend you get a copy and read it yourself.

A brief summary : Hafid was a humble camel-boy with ambition and pride in ancient times. He begged to be mentored by his master – one of the wealthiest, most respected and loved traders who ever lived. When this trader was a young man himself, he was given a box containing Ten Sacred Scrolls by an old rich man, with the mandate to guard them with his life and to pass them on before he died to preserve the secrets of success for another generation.

The teachings in the scrolls were only for those who have pure hearts, possessing the desire to help others in need even to if it deprives him of worldly possessions.

After proving himself worthy, Hafid vowed to open each scroll everyday for thirty days and to study, memorise and live up the contents before continuing on to the next scroll.

It’s a wonderful, empowering and quick read neatly encapsulating all that is required to ‘set oneself up’ for success, which is all about dreams, goals, attitude and consistency.

Habits – good ones or bad ones? Your choice.

Without getting into good habits and eliminating the bad ones, achieving our goals and living our dreams will always be out of reach.

Scroll I:  Today I begin a new life
Scroll II:  I will greet this day with Love in my heart
Scroll III : I will persist until I succeed
Scroll IV : I am Nature’s greatest miracle
Scroll V : I will live this day as if it is my last
Scroll VI : Today I will be the master of my emotions
Scroll VII : I will laugh at the world
Scroll VIII : Today I will multiply my value one hundred-fold
Scroll IX : My dreams are worthless, my plans dust and my ambitions impossible.
Scroll X : I will meditate and ask for Guidance

Is that a pyramid scheme?

Turkey or Golden Goose?
Pyramid Scheme vs Brilliant Opportunity
by James Stewart

To get on to the fast track to success you’ll need a good source of quality information in order to make the right decisions at the right time.

We come across people all the time with ALL the answers. Interestingly these are often the people with the most complaints – their finances, the future, politics and where their lives are going…

They ‘can’t complain’ or are ‘not too bad’. They often ‘desperately want to make some positive changes in their lives‘, but when it comes down to brass tacks can’t get out of their own way.

So they abandon an ‘opportunity mentality‘ in favor of skepticism in a world full opportunity.

This is totally understandable because these opportunities exist in a world equally full of crooks and thieves.

It’s all about information. You wouldn’t buy a car without test-driving it to ensure that:

  • it’s right for you
  • it is functioning perfectly
  • there will be proper after-sales support
  • etc …

So why would you make a decision about getting involved in a new business venture without properly investigating it?

It’s just good common sense.

It’s always useful to have the facts for the next time it comes up around the dinner table so……

Here are some facts about an industry – much maligned by the ill-informed – called by many names such as Outsourced Distribution, Direct Sales, Network Marketing or MLM (Multi-level Marketing):

  1. This is an established and recognised marketing and distribution model – endorsed and recommended by business leaders such as Warren Buffet, Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump.
  2. Through this model and by outsourcing distribution, anyone has an equal opportunity to build an income – the size of which is determined by the amount of effort and time they are prepared to invest.
  3. There are no minimum requirements or monthly goals besides the ones you set for yourself.

Pyramid Scheme or Scam?

There are some dodgy operations out there posing as ‘Network Marketing’ companies. Anyone offering instant riches with little or no effort is having you on.

Period.

As an intelligent person looking for the best business opportunity for you, you will no doubt do your due diligence to sort these turkeys from the golden egg-laying goose.

It’s pretty easy to spot the scams. You’re not an idiot. Ask the right questions – the facts are self-evident.

Fact: Pyramid schemes are illegal and do not involve any tangible product.

So, what is the problem with this business model?

Pyramid structure? Almost every large company in the world has a tiered compensation structure. Salespeople get commission, and sales managers get overrides or bonuses on top of that, and sales directors on top of that, and VPs on top of that.

The issue is not with MLM or Network marketing. It is an established and regulated business model, which really amounts to “micro-franchising” with an upside that it has a very low cost of entry with the potential for exceptional revenue for those prepared to do the work.

The real problem is some of the people it attracts. Because of the offers of a real, equal and low-cost opportunity to achieve genuine wealth many people, despite all their protests to the contrary are, in fact, looking for a get-rich-quick-scheme. They are the same people suckered every time by the ‘magic fat-attack pill’.

Take the pill, lie back and watch your waist shrink.

What a load of codswallop!

We all want the result, but what are we prepared to sacrifice to achieve it?

Success is about consistent application focused on a specific goal – ask any successful person.

For a Network Marketing opportunity to be genuinely GREAT it must offer amongst others:

  • a world-beating product in a ‘high-demand’ market
  • the staff and infrastructure to train and support you
  • a low-cost license to work anywhere in the world.
  • the flexibility to allow you to build it on your timeline – to start small, if required – but with limitless potential.

Ask the questions! Get the facts!

See you on the Upside!!
